Advanced User Settings for the MotivAider

Overview

Although most users will get excellent results without ever accessing the MotivAider's advanced user settings, advanced settings allow users to more fully customize the MotivAider's operation to match their preferences and the particular changes they wish to make.

Advanced features allow you to customize the MotivAider to suit your needs To keep them out of the way of users who would prefer to keep things simple, the MotivAider's customization settings are accessed by a single oval button - referred to either as the User Key or the Advanced Function Key - that sits unobtrusively to the right of the SET/RUN switch. The user key is designed to work only when the switch is in the SET position.

Each time you press the user key, you'll advance to the next function (listed below). Each function has two or more settings. The currently selected setting will flash on and off. You can scroll through all the available settings for a given function by using either the Up or Down button. To change a setting, just scroll through the available settings until the particular setting you want appears on the screen.

If you want to change another function, just use the user key to advance to that function, and then choose the setting you want by using the Up or Down button to get that particular setting on the screen.

Once you've made all the changes you want to make, you can save all the change(s) simply by moving the switch to RUN and then back to Set. The new settings will remain active until or unless you change them.

How to Change Settings for Each Specific Function

Increase or decrease the strength of the vibration

You can adjust the strength of the vibration to make it stronger or weaker than the factory default setting. There are 5 settings available ranging from a gentle tapping to a strong steady vibration.

  1. With the slide switch at SET, press the oval user key once. You should feel the MotivAider vibrate.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN keys to scroll through and try out the various vibration strength settings.
  3. When the vibration strength is the way you want it, slide the switch to RUN then back to SET to save your setting. Your MotivAider will now use that setting until you change it.
  4. When you're ready to use the MotivAider, just slide the switch to RUN.

Increase or decrease how long the vibration signal lasts

The vibration signal normally lasts 2 seconds. If you want, you can increase it to 3 or 4 seconds. Increasing the duration of the vibration signal can help you notice more signals.

  1. With the slide switch at SET, press the oval user key twice. The number that appears on the screen refers to the number of seconds the vibration will last.
  2. Use the UP or DOWN key to scroll through the available settings (2, 3, or 4 seconds).
  3. With the setting you want on the screen, slide the switch to RUN then to SET to save your setting.
  4. Your MotivAider will now use the setting you selected until you change it.
  5. When you're ready to use the MotivAider, just slide the switch to RUN.

Send signals at variable intervals instead of at fixed (regular) intervals

The MotivAider normally sends signals at regular (equal) intervals. If you prefer, you can set it to send signals at variable intervals so the signals are less predictable. The current model can send signals at truly random intervals, while the previous model sends signals at average intervals. (The difference between Average and Random signal delivery schedules).

  1. With the slide switch at SET, press the oval user key three (3) times.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN key until you see RAN (random) blinking on the screen. NOTE: If you have an earlier model (grey), you'll see AVE (average) instead of RAN.
  3. Slide the switch to RUN then to SET to save your setting.
  4. Use the UP and DOWN keys to enter the maximum amount of time you want to pass between signals.
  5. When you're ready to use the MotivAider, just slide the switch to RUN.

Set input units in seconds instead of minutes/hours

The MotivAider normally allows you to enter the between-signals interval in minutes and hours. If you prefer, you can set it to allow you to enter intervals in seconds so that signals can be sent more often and/or so you have more precise control over the length of the between-signals interval. (Note: If you switch input units from Hours/Minutes to Seconds, the MotivAider will automatically convert your previous time interval setting to Seconds.)

  1. With the slide switch at SET, zero the display by pressing the UP and DOWN keys at the same time.
  2. Press the oval user key four (4) times.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN key until you see SEC (seconds) blinking on the screen.
  4. Slide the switch to RUN then to SET to save your setting.
  5. Use the UP and DOWN keys to enter the number of seconds you want to pass between signals.
  6. When you're ready to use the MotivAider, just slide the switch to RUN.

Change what's displayed on the screen

The MotivAider normally displays countdown progress on the screen while it's operating. If you prefer, you can change the display so that it shows either the actual time of day or a simple animated graphic.

  1. With the slide switch at SET, press the oval user key five (5) times.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN key to scroll through the available options.
If you want your MotivAider to display nothing but a small animated graphic while it's operating, scroll until you see GR (graphic) blinking on the screen.
If you want your MotivAider to display the time of day while it's operating, scroll until you see Cl (clock) blinking on the screen.
  3. Slide the switch to RUN then to SET to save your selected display setting.
  4. If you selected the option to display time of day,
    (a) Press the oval user key six (6) times and then use the UP and DOWN keys to select the current hour of the day.
    (b) Press the oval key one time and use the UP and DOWN keys to select the correct minutes.
    (c) Slide the switch to RUN then SET to save the time of day.
  5. When you're ready to use the MotivAider, just slide the switch to RUN.

Restore ALL factory default settings

  1. With the slide switch at SET, press the oval user key eight (8) times.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN key until you see DEF (default) blinking on the screen.
  3. Slide the switch to RUN then to SET to restore all factory default settings.
Note: Removing the battery will also restore all factory default settings.
